The Fixxis a British musical group which was formed in 1980. The band was formed by college friends Cy Curnin (vocals), and Adam Woods (drum player). They advertised for additional members for their band and they recruited Jamie West - Oram (guitar player), Rupert Greenall (keyboard player), and Charlie Barret (bass guitar player). Just after the group recorded their first album, Charlie barret left the group and he was replaced by Alfie Agius. Agius only stayed for a short while and left in the middle of the groupís sessions for their next album. He did play the bass guitar on the two hit singles from the album. They were Saved By Zero and One Thing Leads To Another. After that, Dan K. Brown took over the bass guitar player position and stayed with the band until 1994.
The band is best remembered for their single called, One Thing Leads To Another, and it was from their most successful album called, Reach the Beach, which was released in 1983. Some of their other hits were Red Skies, Stand or Fall, Saved By Zero, Sign of Fire, Are We Ourselves?, Secret Separation, Driven Out, How Much Is Enough?, and Deeper and Deeper. The song, Deeper and Deeper was featured on the soundtrack for the movie, Streets of Fire and their song, A Letter To Both Sides, was used on the soundtrack for the film called, Fletch.
The band tour the United States regularly and just recently celebrated their 25th anniversary for making music together. Bass player Gary Tibbs, now is with the band and was formerly from the group called, Roxy Music, The Vibrators, and Adam & The Ants. Cy Curnin is often seen on stage with a glass of wine in his right hand and an egg shaker in the left hand. The group became successful and very well known in the United States and Canada but are not known very well at all in their own country.
The Fixx performed an all new cover version of These Boots Are Made For Walking (Nancy Sinatraís big hit), in 2002. The recording was for a special album called When Pigs Fly. The album was a release of classic hit songs from the 1960's through the 1990's. They also recorded the song on a bonus track on their Twentyfifth Anniversary Anthology CD.
The Fixx released a total of 17 albums and 15 singles during their musical career together. Their albums were recorded and released between 1982 (Shattered Room), to 2005 (Mayfly (Cy Curninís Solo Album, and Twentyfifth Anniversary Anthology also in 2005. The group will be long remembered by fans.
