Skid Rowis a heavy metal, glam metal, and hard rock band from Tom River, New Jersey, in 1986. The members consisted of Rachel Bolan (bass guitar player), Dave (The Snake) Sabo (guitar player), Scotti Hill (guitar player), Rob Affuso (drummer), and lead vocalist, Matt Fallon, in 1987. They performed throughout the Eastern part of the United States. The band got a record deal with Atlantic Records with the help of Sabo’s friend, Jon Bon Jovi. They released their first album called, Skid Row, in 1989, and it was a big success. The album went 5 x platinum and from it came the hit singles, 18 and Life, I Remember You, and Youth Gone Wild. The group went on tour to promote their album and singles.
The band went back to the studio in 1990, and recorded their second studio album. The album was called, Slave To the Grind, and released in June 1991. The album debuted at #1 on the American charts. They were again very successful and went on tour again to promote the album. This worldwide tour lasted over a year and included a performance supporting the group, Guns and Roses, and they also appeared at the Castle Donington festival, in 1992. The album was released in 2 versions, one clean version and one not so clean, and the album was not on the charts for long but it still went 2x platinum from the RIAA Certifications, while it was there. The band took a break in 1993 after their Slave To the Grind, tour, and before their third album was released. In 1994, they returned to the studio to record and released their third studio album called, Subhuman Race. The album was released in March, 1995 and it charted number 40. The album new member, Bob Rock, joined them on this album. The album did not reach the success that, Skid Row and Slave To the Grind did. The album received some hits but they were not getting their videos played on MTV very much anymore. Who knows, maybe they will again rise to the top and become even more successful. They did have a large fan base and they will remember them for a long time.
The band began in 1985 and are still recording or performing. They have released their music on the record labels, Atlantic, Skid Row, and SPV. Skid Row released 8 albums, 4 music videos, and 10 singles, during their career to date. The group became popular with their first two albums. The last full length album they released was in October, 2006 and it was called, Revolutions Per Minute. The group has sold over 30 million albums worldwide.
