Quarterflash

is a pop rock group which was formed in Portland , Oregon, in 1980. The members of the band are Rindy Ross (lead singer, sax), Marv Ross (guitar), Jack Charles (guitar), Rick Digiallonardo (keyboard), Rich Gooch (bass), and Brian David Willis (drums). The band was formed when two popular bands in Oregon merged. They were Seafood Mama and Pilot. They released the single, Harden My Heart, in early 1980. It was played on the Portland radio stations and was a big hit. They got a one hour tv special, Seafood Mama In Concert, on the Koin television station on June, 5, 1980. The show was also simulcast on KQFM. The song was later recorded by the new group, Quarterflash.

The band signed with Geffen Records in 1980 and released their debut album, Quarterflash, in 1981. The album reached number 8 on the Billboard Top LPs & Tapes chart. The album sold over 1 million copies. It received a RIAA gold certification in February, 1982 and reached platinum status in June, 1982. The single from the album, Harden the heart, reached number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart and the single, Find Another Fool, reached number 16. The Portland tv station, Had another special, Quarterflash in Concert and it was aired on KOIN tv on October 22, 1981. And simulcast on KGON. The concert had been taped previously on October 15, 1981 at the Paramount theater. Another album by the group, Take Another Picture, was released in 1983 and hit number 34 on the Billboard chart. A single from the album, Take Me To Heart, reached number 14. This album did not get as much commercial success as their first album did. In 1981. The band released their final album (with the original group) in 1985. The group split up after that because they were dropped from the record company.

In 1990, Quarterflash reunited and the band consisted of Sandin Wilson (bass and vocal), Greg Williams (drums), Doug Fraser (guitar player), and Mel Kubik (sax and keyboard). The new group released, Girl In the Wind, on the Epic Record label. Rindy and Marv Ross had moved on and are now a part of another popular band in the Oregon area. The band is called, The Oregon Trail Band.

The albums released by the Quarterflash band during the 1980's were, Quarterflash (1981), Take Another Picture (1983), Back Into Blue (9185) and Girl In the Wind (1991). The singles released by the group were, Harden My Heart (1981), Find Another Fool (1982), Right Kind of Love (1982), Night Shift (1982), Take Me To Heart (1983), Take Another Picture (1983), and Talk To Me (1985) The group left their mark in the 1980's and many will remember them.
