Patrick Swayze

was born on August 18, 1952 in Houston, Texas. He is an American dancer, actor, singer, and songwriter. He got his name to fame when he starred in the movie, Dirty Dancing as a dance instructor, in 1987 and again in 1990 when he starred in the movie, Ghost.

Patrick was born to Jesse Swayze (choreographer) and Patsy Swayze (ballet school owner). He has a brother, Don, who is also an actor. He got dance lessons from John Trivolta when he was doing the movie Dirty dancing. He has been a hit in several movies in his lifetime. These were, Uncommon Valor (1983), The Outsiders (1983). Red Dawn (1984), Grandview, U. S. A. Patrick played on stage in Guys and Dolls in London on July 27, 2006. He stayed in the role of Nathan Detroit until November, 2006. He had also starred on Broadway stage in Goodtime Charlie in 1975 and in Chicago on 2003. He has been awarded nominations for the Golden Globe nominations for Dirty Dancing, Ghost, To Wong Foo, and Thanks For Everything, in 1995.

Patrick married Lisa Niemi in 1975. He met her when she was 15 and had started taking dance lessons at Patrickís momís studio. Patrickís father doed from a heart attact. His sister Vicky, committed suicide in 1994 by overdosing on pain killers. Patrick entered a clinic to overcome alcoholism after his sister took her life. He spends a lot of time on his ranches in California and New Mexico where he breeds Arabian horses. Patrick was seriously injured in 1996 while he was filming The HBO Letters From A Killer In the Ione Area. He fell from a horse and hit a tree. He had two broken legs, and had four detached tendons in his shoulder. Filming was halted for two months. He recovered from his injuries but didnít find work until 2000. He co-starred in Waking Up In Reno and also Forever Lulu, in 2000. Patrick has been a favored idol of many in the past years and continues to be a great actor and dancer.
