New Order

is and English rock band which was formed in 1980 by Bernard Sumner (vocalist, guitar player, and synthesizers), Peter Hook (bass player, vocalist, and electronic drums), and Stephen Morris (drum player, and synthesizers). The band was formed after their former band called, Joy Division, after their member, Ian Curtis, committed suicide. Gillian Gilbert joined the group and played the Keyboard and guitar. The bandís best selling single was, Blue Monday. Their music was dance style songs and synthesized instruments. Their hit, Blue Monday, was considered by some to be the best selling 12 inch hit of all time. The band was the flagship band for Factory Records. They were considered a big influence to alternative rock and dance music over the last 25 years. The band took a leave of absence from 1993 to 1998 and then when they came back in 2001 they released, Get ready, which was their first album they had released in 8 years. While they were on leave of absence, they had individual projects that they worked on. Phil Cunningham replaced Gillian Gilbert in 2005. Hook and Sumner announced that they were no longer going to work together as of July, 2007.

The band New Order chose their new name after an agreement that if any member left their band when it was called, Joy Division. So when Curtis committed suicide the group decided they had to change their name. The group decided to go on but they needed a new name. The bandís manager, Rob Gretton, came up with the name from an article he read in The Guardian, The Peopleís New Order of Kampuchea. The first release as, New Order, was Ceremony, and also, In A Lonely Place. In 2006. The band took several tours and played some one-off live shows in the U. K. And in Brazil. It was suggested by Peter Hook, in November, 2006, that the group stop touring so there were rumors that the band was splitting up. However, in January, 2007, Stephen denied the rumors and stated that the band was working on a new album. They also claim to be working on the release of, Control, which is an Ian Curtis bio. The band lost Tony Wilson when he passed away and after that there were rumors that the band was going to reunite with Hook. So the New Order may be back in the public eye one of these days. The band has released a total of 8 albums and the latest one has been, A New Beginning, which was released in 2007. They have made a mark in the music industry and it appears that they are not finished yet.
