Naked Eyesis an English duet which was popular in the 1980's. They were the first band to ever use the Fairlight CMI on a pop recording. The bandís first album released was, Burning Bridges (in 1983). The album became number 32 in the U.S. and was released in both the U. S. And Canada. The album was produced by Tony Mansfield ans was re-touched by Alan Tarney.
The members of the band were childhood friends, Pete Byrne (vocalist), and Rob Fisher (keyboard player). They were from Bath, England. They played in a band called, Neon, before they formed Naked Eyes. The other members of Neon moved on and became a part of Tears For Fears. Naked Eyes has met their success in other countries instead of their home country. The next two singles they released were, Promises, Promises, and When the Lights Go Out. They were hits in other countries, especially in the United States. Promises, Promises was used in the tv series, Knight Rider, in one of the episodes. The second album released by Naked Eyes was, Fuel For the Fire. The album plus a single from it called, What In the Name of Love, were not very successful. The band split up just after they released the album. Pete Byrne went on to do session work for other artists such as Stevie Wonder (can be heard onhis song, Part-Time Lover). He also wrote and produced the song, I Am the Cute One, for Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, in 1992. Rob Fisher joined another duet known as, Climie Fisher.
Rob Fisher died on August 25, 1999 when he developed complications from stomach surgery. Pete Byrne released a solo album in 2001, and it was called, The real Illusion. Some of the tracks were songs he and Fisher had written for their third album which never materialized. Recently, the Naked Eyes version of, Always Something There To Remind Me, was used in the hit comedy, The Breakup. In July, 2007, Naked Eyes, which featured Byrne, released a new CD called, Fumbling With the Covers. The CD contains covers of Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Elvis Costello, and all of the Naked Eyes hits.
The Naked Eyes released a total of 3 albums and a total of 4 singles. They may have not had ma lot of success in their music career, they had enough to accumulate many fans during their short time together. They will be remembered by those fans and others who remember some of their songs. Pete Byrne may or may not be finished with his career. Who knows for sure, he may surface again with more music for his fans.
