Limahlwas born on December 19, 1958 in Pemberton,Wigan, United Kingdom. He was the lead singer of the band known as Kajagoogoo. He later began a solo career. Hamill toured briefly with the group known as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. After that he formed a punk band called Vox Deus. After that he joined Crossword but it too was shortlived because he left it to form the band Brooks with Mike Nolan. After he joined Kajagoogoo, the group released their first single, Too Shy, which went to number 1 on the U. K. Charts and to the top 5 on the U. S. Billboard Hot 100 Chart. Limahl did not get along with other band members and was fired. Limahl claimed that the others were just jealous. It was stated that he had become an egomaniac and was hard to work with. This led to Limahl going solo and he achieved 2 hits with, Only For Love, and Neverending Story, both of which were the title theme for movies. His debut album, Donít Suppose was a failure. After 1984 he fell onto hard times but he still released two more albums, one in 1986 (Color All My Days), and the second one, Love Is Blind, in 1992. He also released a single, Tell Me Why, in 2003.
The boom for 80's nostalgia began and Limahl started wearing an orange wig which was identical to his original hairstyle when he was a member of Kajagoogoo. He started playing gigs and performed hits he had with the band and also his own hits. Soon other groups who had lost their fame, followed his lead, and went back on stage too. In 2004 he took part in a musical reality show, Comeback, which was on German TV. The next year he appeared in another UK show that was very similar to the previous one. This show was called, Hit Me Baby One More Time. Limahl shared a place with disc jockey Paul Gambaccini and this led to rumors that the two were lovers. Both of them denied it but they both also admitted openly that they were gay.
Thaer have been many bands come and go over the years and many of them broke up for different reasons. Many times it was because of disagreements and disputes among the members and at times it was because of problems with producers, managers, or recording studios. There were bound to be some of the artists that grew too big for their britches and could not get along with the others. Many of the musicians continued their careers by donig solos and became very successful that way too.
