was born as Kim Smith on November 18, 1960, in Chiswick, West London, England. Kim is a professional singer, pop culture figure, and professional gardener. Her debut hit was, Kids In America, in 1981. The hit reached number 2 on the U. K. Singles chart. She made number one in the United States with her version of You Keep Me Hanginí On, in 1987. This song was also a number one hit for the Supremes in 1966.

Kim is the daughter of the 1950's rock and roll star, Marty Wilde (Reginald Smith).and Joyce Baker. The two were former members of the singing and dancing group called, The Vernons Girls.

Kim signed up with Mickie Mostís Rak Record label. Kim released her debut album, Kim Wilde, in 1981 and it hit number 1 in Germany and number 3 in the U. K.. From the album came two single hits called, Chequered Love, which hit number 1 in France, number 2 in Germany and hit the Top Five in Britian and Australia. Water Glass was other hit single. Kimís next successful album was, Select, and it was released in 1982. Some single hits from this album were, Cambodia, which hit number 1 in France, and number 2 in Germany. View From A Bridge was her fourth French number 1 single and was also a Top Ten hit in Germany. Kim released 3 albums with the Rak label then signed up with MCA Records in 1984. Most of the hit songs Kim released were written by her father and her brother, Ricki Wilde. Kim continued her success by releasing 6 more albums under the MCA Records label. The hits were successful internationally. Some of her smash hits were not only, You Keep Me Hanginí On, but also hits such as, Another Step Closer To You, Rockiní Around the Christmas Tree, You Came, Never Trust A Stranger, and also Four Letter Word. All of these reached the Top 10 Hits chart in the U. K., and were also well received in other countries. Top 20 Hits of hers were, Love is Holy and If I Canít Have You, were released in the 1990's. Her most successful album was in the U. K. in 1988, was Close. From the album came 3 big Top 10 singles and the album was on the U. K. Album chart for almost 8 months.

Kim had an interest in gardening and attended college to learn about horticulture. She was asked to be a designer for the television program, Better Gardens. The next year she signed a 2 year contract with BBC and recorded 2 seasons of Garden Invaders. She also wrote some books about gardening. In 2006 Kim signed a new record deal and released another album. Kim has released a total of 32 albums and compilations and 49 singles during her career.
