is a U. S. Rock band which was formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in the early 1980's. The members consist of Kurt Larsen (aka Kurt Valaquen and Kurt Harland), Paul Robb, James Cassidy. Their first hit they released was, What’s On Your Mind (Pure Energy). The band has a loyal fan base in Mexico, Spain, Brazil, and Japan. The band played electronic music with a mixture of hip hop, dub, and electro. In 1983 the group released two albums called, The InSoc EP and Creatures of Influence. Two years later the band released their first single called, Running. The single became a hit which was very popular in New York City Latin dance clubs. The song was written ans sung by Murat Konar. Murat left the band shortly after the release of the single. The group moved to New York City and recruited a new member, Amanda Kramer, and they signed with Tommy Boy records and released their debut album. Kramer left the group shortly after the second single, Walking Away, was released. The group released their self titled debut album in 1988 and from it another hit came called Walking Away, and also Lay All Your Love On Me. The album sold out all of the original copies that were printed within two weeks in the United States and it reached gold status within 5 months and eventually turned platinum. The band also released a single under the group name of Think Tank. The two songs were from their next to be released 2nd album. They also had an instrumental song called, Hit me, which was from the album and was also used on the soundtrack for the movie, Earth Girls Are easy. In 1989 the group joined other artists on the Club MTV Tour. Others included, Paula Abdul, Milli Vanilli, Tone Loc, Was Not Was, and Lisa Lisa.

The groups second release, Hack, in 1990, was not very successful. It did have, however, minor hits with Think, and How Long. The album sold pretty well in the fall of 1990. There were also music videos produced for the two songs. There was a third single, Now That I Have You, but it was never released.

Information Society’s third album release was, Peace & Love, Inc.. It was released in 1992 and it reached number 1 on the Billboard Dance Chart although the recording company did not promote the album much. A music video was also produced for the single from the album, Peace & Love, Inc., but MTV would not play it. The group continues to release material and to date they have released 11 albums and 15 singles.
