Guns n' Roses
Guns n' Rosesis a hard rock band that was formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1985. The band has sold over 90 million albums worldwide during their career together. Guns ní Roses was formed by Axl Rose and Tracii Guns. It was an informal merger of the groups, Hollywood Rose and L. A. Guns. Axl Rose had been a member of both groups. Tracii Guns had been a member of L. A. Guns. There were members from both bands which formed the new band called Guns ní Roses. They were not only Tracii and Axl but also Izzy Stradlin (rhythm guitar), and bass guitar player, Ole Beich, and Rob Gardner (drum player). The band played a mixture of hard rock, heavy metal, sleaze rock, blues, and punk rock. Tracii Guns and Rob Gardner could not make it to one of the bandís first performances so they were replaced with Slash (guitar player), and Steven Adler (drummer), for the performance. In 1986 the two were hired on full time.
The group released their first album, Appetite For destruction, in 1987. Welcome To the Jungle was their first single released from the album and also had a music video released for the song. The group wrote the lyrics to this song and it became one of their signature songs. In the beginning the album and the song did not receive much success. They got some help from Geffen Records when the founder of Geffen records asked MTV to play Welcome To the Jungle, during their after hours rotation. The group continued to release albums and singles as well as going on worldwide tours. They had their first North American tour in 2002 after a long span since 1993. The tour was organized to support their album, Chinese Democracy.
In 2007, Guns ní Roses played a two song set at the Rodeo Driveís Walk of Style Ceremony which was held on February 8, in Beverly Hills, California. The band played Knockiní On Heavenís Door and Sweet Child Oí Mine, with Chris pitman as the bass player. These songs closed the event which was to honor Gianni and Donatella Versace.
On May 4, 2007, three more tracks were leaked from the album, Chinese Democracy. The band went on the Chinese Democracy world tour starting in Mexico in June. From there they went on to Australia and Japan. Guns Ní Roses also have another new album in the wings. The lineup of members at this time are Axl Rose, Robin Finck, Ron Thal, Richard Fortus, Tommy Stinson, Dizzy reed, Chris Pitman, and Frank Ferrer. The band has released a total of 8 albums, 21 television performances, and 3 performances.
