Don Johnsonwas born as Donald Wayne Johnson on December 15, 1949, in Flat Creek, Missouri. Don is an American actor and a singer and is very well known in the actors and singers world. Don has many fans and has appeared in many movies and television shows. Donís father was a farmer and his mother was a beautician. Don moved to Wichita, Kansas when he was 6 years old and graduated from South High School In Wichita in 1967 and graduated from the University of Lawrence, in Lawrence, Kansas. Don was a contestant on the popular television show, the Dating Game, in the late 1960's. He was also in a psychedelic rock band called the Horses, in the late 1960's. The band released one self titled record in 1969 on the White Whale label and later re-released it on the Gear Fab label in 2004 and again on the Rev-Ola label in 2005.
Don studied drama at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. He got his first major role in acting in the1969 in the Los Angeles stage production of Fortune and Menís Eyes and he played the lead role. He continued to play on stage, in films, and on television but did not receive stardom yet. The films he appeared in that were most remembered at the time was The Harrad Experiment in 1973 and A Boy and His Dog in 1975.
Don Johnson became very well known when he got the starring role as Sonny Crockett in the 1980's cop series called, Miami Vice. Don played as a police detective working undercover as a drug smuggler. He wore thousand dollar suits over cotton shirts and also drove a Ferrari. He lived on a yacht wit a pet alligator named Elvis. In 1996 through 2001, Don starred in the television show called, Nash Bridges and Don was Nash. His co-stars were Cheech Marin and Jodi Lyn OíKeefe. Nash was a detective for the San Francisco Police department. In this television series Don drove a flashy yellow 1971 Plymouth Barracuda convertible.
In 1996 Don received a star on the Hollywood Walk of fame for his role in television. The Walk of fame is located at 7080 Hollywood Blvd. Don also received a Golden Globe Award Best Actor in a Television Series (Drama), Miami Vice, in 1985. Don Johnson once was involved with Barbra Streisand and together they released a duet single. Don has also released 4 albums and 1 VHS full length video. He has appeared in 21 movies and 26 television shows and movies made for television.
