Debbie Harry

was born on July 1, 1945 in Miami, Florida.She was adopted at the age of three months by a family who lived in hawthorne, New Jersey. She graduated high school in Hawthorne in 1963. Dhe later moved to New York and worked as a secretary at the BBC Radio New York Office then later became a waitress, a dancer for Union City, and also a Playboy Bunny.

Debbie is a Grammy winner and Golden Globe nominated musician. Debbie was most remembered as a lead singer for the punk/rock band known as Blondie. She also went on to become a solo artist and received moderate success at it. She also had an acting career with over 30 film roles and a few television appearances. She began her musical career as a folk rock singer with the group, The Wind In The Willows. She then joined a girl trio, the Stilettos in the 1970's. Debbie and her boyfriend Chris Stein formed the band, Blondie, in the mid 1970's. They got the name from the passing cars who yelled at Debbie with their wolf whistles. Their first debut album was released in 1976 which was very successful and it just led from one to another successes in the United States, Australia, and also in Europe. Debbie’s success continued on throughout the years and she was entered into the Guiness World Book of Records in 1999 for being the oldest female singer to reach number 1 ion the U. K. Chart. She went to number one on those charts with her song, Maria.She was 53 years old in 1999 at the time of her success for the song.

In 2003 she released the new single, Good Boys, which was also a hit in the U. K. And across Europe, and was number 10 on the united states charts. In 2005 Blondie released yet another album which was called, Live By request. In 2006 they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame. In June, 2007 Debbie went solo with her 2007 True Colors Tour. She wanted to make a clear destinction between the Blondie releases and her solo ones. Her fifth solo album was started in 2006 in New York City. The album is called Necessary Evil. Debbie is also one of the faces of MAC Cosmetics’ Viva Glam VI Campaign. The funds made from these cosmetics are going to go to the MAC Aids Fund which helps people live with AIDS worldwide.

It seems that Blondie , or at least Debbie Harry is still going and who knows when she will retire. One thing is for certain, there are very few people who have not heard of Blondie. The band and Debbie has certainly made their mark in the music world.
