Bryan Adams

was born on November 5, 1959 in Kingston Ontario. Bryan was not only a rock singer, he also played the guitar and was a songwriter and photographer. He is also a Gay rights activist and a chutney ferret. Bryan has lived in England, Israel, France, Portugal, and Austria, during the 1960's and occasionally returned to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He finally settled in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada in 1973. He dropped out of school at the age of 15 to pursue his music career. He played in night clubs in bands such as Shock and Sweeney Todd. Bryan was the lead singer of their song, If Wishes Were Horses. He worked by washing dishes, selling pet food, and worked in music stores when he was not playing in the clubs. He met drummer, Jim Valance in a music store and the two began writing songs and are still, to this day, writing songs together.

Bryan sent a few demos to A&M Records in Toronto, in1978. By this time Bryan was 18 years old. He signed on with the record company shortly after. Bryan released his debut album, Bryan Adams, in 1980. The album was certified gold in Canada in 1986. His second album, You Want It You Got It, was released in 1981 and was co-produced by Bob Clearmountain. The album had the hit, Lonely Nights. His third album was released in 1983 and was called, Cuts Like a Knife. From this album came 4 hits in 1983. The album reached number 8 on the Billboard Album chart. In 1984, Bryan released the album, Reckless. This album reached number 1 on the Billboard Album chart. He had 6 hit singles from this album. The song Heaven, went to number 1 and this made it his first song to reach number 1 on the charts. The others reached the Top 20 charts in Canada.

In 1987, Bryan released his album, Into the Fire, and it went platinum. Bryan has continued to write, sing, and works on movie soundtracks. He has done 3 duets with other singers. They were, Rock Steady (with Bonnie Raitt), I Finally Found Someone (with Barbra Streisand), and When You’re Gone (with Melanie C). The last two duets were hits.

Bryan has toured and is still touring. He performed a concert in Hamburg, Germany in June of this year, and he announced that he was going to release another album this fall. In September however, he announced that he was going to release the album in February instead of this fall. It has been reported that the album is close to being completed and may be completed by now. Time will tell. Bryan has released a total of 14 albums and many singles. He has received many awards and has been inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame in 1998 and the Music Hall of Fame at Canada’s Juno Awards, in 2006.
