The best music of the 80s comes in a variety of styles. The 80's brought about a change in rock and roll as we knew it and there were many new styles of music evolved from it. The new styles of music included new instruments used along with the guitars, horns, piano, and drums. The new instruments were electric keyboards, synthesizers, and drum machines. The best music can also be considered a matter of opinion. There were so many different styles that many people chose only one or two of them and would not listen to others because of their loud obnoxious music and the lyrics to the songs which were very bad. The lyrics to the heavy metal, rap, and hard rock, were vulgar, and talked about sex, killing, suicide, stealing, drugs, alcohol, cults, devil worshipers, and demons. The parents of teens and young children did not like the music and did not want their kids to listen to it. There were many who tried to get the music banned but it was not accomplished. Many of the musicians screamed, freedom of speech, and it evidently worked.
The different styles of new music in the 80's was, heavy metal, hard rock. Rap, disco, post punk, college rock, synth pop, New Wave, hair metal, heartland rock, thrash metal, New wave of British heavy metal, and more. Some of the many dances which were invented to go along with the music were, Roger rabbit, Robo Cop, disco, the moonwalk, tickiní, lockiní, waviní, poppiní, break dancing, running man, funky twist, New Kids Move, and Cabbage Patch, plus more.
There have been some new compilation albums released in order to keep the 80's music alive. There are still many 80's music fans and the hit songs bring back memories for them. Plus many of the younger generation can enjoy the music as well. Many of the artists have reunited and are again recording, touring, and releasing new albums.
