80s TV Theme Music

80's tv theme music is a style that everyone of that era can relate to and recognize very easily. The theme music brings back memories of that era and many people were more laid back and not in such a hurry to get where they were going. The theme songs of the earlier days were good and people wonder what happened to the good television theme songs. Much of the older music is used today for theme music or there is just some written instrumental music which has no character or does not relate to the show at all. Some of the hit shows of today’s television, does not have any theme song at all. The tv show called Lost has only the sound of drums on it. The show, Heroes, has no intro music at all. Back in the 1980's and even earlier, if a theme song came on the television, you knew which show was coming on. You could be washing dishes in the kitchen or doing something else and if you heard the song, you knew what was about to come on so you could drop everything and go watch your favorite shows. Today you have no clue because there is no theme song related to a particular show. Even as far back as Gunsmoke, or Leave It To Beaver, you knew when the show was coming on because you recognized the theme song.

There were also many theme songs for a lot of the commercials for different products. Gone are the days when you can sing along with the theme song. Some of the 80's television shows which had memorable theme songs were:

Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air... Rap away to the theme song

Who’s the Boss... ”There’s more to live than what you’re living, so take a chance and face the wind...”

Full House... “Everywhere you look, there’s a heart, a hand to hold on to”

Facts of Life... “You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have the Facts of Life”

Diff’rent Strokes... “No matter what you got, not a lot... so what”

Family Ties... “What would we do baby... without us”

Growing Pains... “Show me that smile again, don’t waste another minute on your cryin’.”

Silver Spoons... “You and I together, we’re going to find our way...”

Perfect Strangers... “Standing tall... on the wings of my dreams..”

Gimme A Break... “Gimme a break I sure deserve it. It’s time I made it to the top.” Cheers... “Sometimes you wanna’ go...where everyone knows your name”

No matter what the time era is now, many of these tv theme songs will forever live in the hearts of the 80's generation.
